Flu season is about to begin and if you’re an Urgent Care not offering flu shots, you could be missing out on opportunities for new patients.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that flu season can begin as early as December and go as late as March. Last year, the CDC reported that 47.1 percent of people got the flu vaccine. If you think about it, that’s half of everyone in your community that gets a flu shot.
So how can that effect your Urgent Care? Well, most people don’t have time to make an appointment with their physician, wait to be seen, then pay their co-pay. Which is why those people get their shot at the drug store; it’s more efficient and doesn’t require an appointment. That’s the competition and being an Urgent Care, you can use this chance to get new patients through the door.
Offering a fast and effective flu shot experience is a healthcare marketing opportunity. The key is to make the process as efficient as possible for people to get their flu shots on their lunch breaks, or after work. They should be in and out in under 20 minutes.
Target your geographical area. Use your social media pages, website, newsletters, and signage to tell people that you offer walk-in flu shots. Let them know that no appointment is needed, and they can be in-and-out in less than 30 minutes.
Your patients are your number one priority. And providing a pleasant flu shot experience for them, and their children, is one way Urgent Cares can build a gateway to long-term patients.
