Thanksgiving is Thursday and we can all be thankful for the short work week and time spent with loved ones.
Like your healthcare brand, there are staples that Thanksgiving is known for and would feel empty without. For example, what’s the first thing you imagine when you think of the traditional Thanksgiving feast? Most people think up an image of a plump juicy turkey front and center on the table. Well that’s how you should think of your organization’s motto, or mission statement.
It’s what sets you apart from others and what drives your passion. If your mission isn’t bringing your patients, employees and community together, it’s not living up to its potential. One of the reasons people stay loyal to certain brands is because they see their same values reflected back at them. Think about it. You don’t support an organization you don’t agree with, right? So, how did you form that opinion? Chances are you figured out along the way that you had a lot in common.
You have many other areas that shine bright and bring attention to your organization. But a mission that inspires all your staff members is as complimentary as turkey and stuffing. You can have one without the other, but the overall experience is much better when the two work in unison.
Thanksgiving can go on without a turkey. There’s plenty more options on the table to satisfy your hunger. But without a turkey there’s a viable missing piece to the big picture. Like Thanksgiving, your healthcare organization can function without an integrated mission. But there will always feel like there’s something missing, something that could push your brand above the rest.
