It’s time to clear the air about Nonprofit Healthcare Organizations.
These facilities make up most of the healthcare market and could be your best shot at affordable, first rate care. So why there so many myths and misconceptions?
Part of the problem may be the term, nonprofit, but the fact is it’s impossible to tell if a hospital is for-profit or nonprofit just by walking through the doors. Non-profit healthcare providers have just as much expertise and technology as their for-profit counterparts and make up over 60 percent of the hospitals in America.
Non-profit healthcare facilities may operate on smaller budgets but that doesn’t mean they are doing without the best. Nonprofit hospitals are exempt from local and state property tax, income tax and sales tax. This way, they are able to pay their physicians and staff a competitive wage, while maintaining the best resources and top care for their patients.
Healthcare facilities can become a driving force in their local economy, employing thousands. The U.S. Government requires nonprofits to reinvest money in themselves. That means, they are invested in their community for the long haul as healthcare providers, job creators and even a charitable organizations. It’s this mission-driven philosophy that makes an impact on surrounding areas.
