Community Involvement is something we hear a lot about these day, but often only as an individual effort.
That’s why it’s important to remember that your healthcare facility or organization can find ways to give back as well. In doing so, you can not only help your neighborhood, but also your brand.
Being involved in public service and offering up your time is just one way you can market your healthcare organization. Not only will you be constantly meeting new people and forming relationships, but it also allows you to view your community through a different lens.
A good way to begin is by finding a community organization that you’re interested in, always making sure it’s something you truly have a passion for. Think about your skillsets, the time you have to give and how you can best be of service. Finding a service organization that appeals to you will ensure that you don’t lose interest, and odds are, you’ll meet people who have the same passion and aspirations.
Community involvement is so important for nonprofit, and for-profit, healthcare organizations because it allows you to take a hands on approach and establish a relationship with your community. It shows that you’re invested in the growth of not only your organization, but your community.
We’re not talking about just sitting on a board and approving budgets. We’re talking about putting in a little elbow grease and giving your time volunteering. Spending your time helping others in need will speak volumes about who you are and the company you represent.
Lastly, your best resources are your people. If you don’t have programs instituted to encourage your employees to get involved in the community, stop what you are doing and implement it at once. Your internal team members are your best brand advocates and promoting this behavior communicates that not only do you care about your employees helping others, but also that you care about the employees themselves.
